Thanks for posting these fantastic articles. Do they come from one of the electronic versions of Playboy? I've sometimes wondered about buying those but haven't heard any reports.
We don't seem to hear from Tim nowadays.
It must be twenty odd years since I bought a top shelf magazine, but the very thought of Hugh Hefner fills me with loathing. And yet, having seen a 1960s edition relatively recently, there was more in it of middlebrow literature than curvaceous bunnies. Sartre, Fleming and Roald Dahl (from memory). Wasn't John Simons' early projected customer at The Ivy Shop a Playboy reader? It was supposed to go with his 'Modernist', gadget-filled, 60s lifestyle: all 007 and John Steed perhaps.
Thanks for bumping, Andy.
Yes, I thought it was worthwhile. Tim had a good eye for this kind of thing.
Id just like to say how good this stuff us. This is an amazing find and well done to the boy who stuck it all on here. Me old mate Johnny has got a great stash of old playboy mags he saud they had good clothes in them. we used to joak with him like saying that the oages were all stiuck togerher and akl that and go on Johnny boy go and have a hand shandy. Now i know he was not lying to us he was telling the truth.
Vulgarity we won't stand for.
These look great. Er, I actually had something to say about clothes but I've forgotten it now. Anyway, I missed these. Thanks so much for the bump.
February 1954
mega upload has been shut down - no articles
Damn! That fat Kim...
Someone should upload them again!
Does anybody have the files?
I was searching because I'd just been reading about Playboy/Hefner in regard to clothes and there is mention of him dressing IVY and the clothing writer Kessie? generally influencing Hef to wear IVY and promote it. And references to Hef previously wearing Zoot suits etc before he settled down to his version of IVY.
Playboy Ivy Jimbo? or Bunny Ivy?
I can look up and type a few quotes if anyone is interested.
