Re: Spread Collar, Italian Style

i've got a paul smith shirt (interestingly made in italy btw) with a collar quite like the second shirt in the row. being more than little stuck with the classic bd lol i don't wear it that often as i often find the shirt more than a little problematic to combine with either knitwear or jackets. the shirt is quite nice tho, slim fit w/ multiple stripes, colours ranging from navy to pink. (not typing at home so i don't exatly remember all the colours). so not one's basic 'mod/skin/suede' etc shirt but quite applies to the slim silhouette ethos.

i probably should wear the shirt more.

marc, i quite like those very spread collar ones.

Stunning shirts.

I'm intrigued by the line up of the 2 button collar. Any chance of a more close up shot?

Re: Spread Collar, Italian Style

Obviously the spread collar was meant to be worn w/a tie and I buy them as such as it is the only type of collar I like when wearing a tie ( which isn't often TBW ). Anyway, the Italians like to wear this style open-necked/casually also ( especially in the south I think ) which IMHO does only work with a semi-spread collar shirt, unless one opts for the knitwear solution. Trying and testing.....

Re: Spread Collar, Italian Style

funny enough, my fave-ish style which i've sported quite so often has been a bit similar, but by no means identical: a subtly checked big collar bd, single-coloured v neck, a varied herringbone pattern jacket (2 buttons, 2 side vents, ticket pocket, worn quite often w/ a red or burgundy paisley hanky), dark denim bootcut jeans, brogues or weejuns. jeans w/ sewn in turnups when brogues and w/ no turn-ups when loafers. thus, a bit closer to the 'skinhead geography teacher' look, especially with brogues and jeans with turnups combo. big_smile another fave has been a subtly striped ocbd, charcoal 3 button jacket, jeans w/ turnups + brogues. never mind what people might say, when combined well, jeans/shirt/knit/sports- jacket or a blazer works quite well. and doesn't look jeremy clarkson at all. (an observation which is quite wise left unwritten on some other forums lol)
